I hear this all the time, “I do high reps so that I don’t get bulky”.
Afraid of getting bulky?
Google: “best rep range to gain muscle” or “hypertrophy repetition range”
don’t worry, I’ll wait….
Did you read something along the lines of, high volume at a moderate weight will create the most hypertrophy (or muscle mass/gain)?
The range of this is about 12-15 repetitions per round. Sound like what you are doing?
It has been shown the low reps to build the most strength. However, this doesn’t mean that these low repetitions will make your muscles large.
So, next time you head for the weights, don’t be afraid to do the low rep high weight sets.
The most long term health and fitness success will come from a variety of reps and weights. So, don’t be afraid to mix it up!
